With me having to work, it has been up to the Denizen of the Room to clean. That has sometimes meant just moving piles around, but she has also made some tangible progress. The most amazing feat was getting the bureau cleaned off, and she laid it on the floor so I could replace the missing leg.
I was working by myself for a while, removed something from the pile and was amazed to find a waste basket! It was full, but it was there. The fact that it was full gave me a glimmer of hope that the Denizen of the Room knows how to use one. I now know to focus my guidance on occasionally emptying it.
But where I thought clutter was my enemy, now gravity took over. As I tried to lift the dresser back into place the drawers, which were face down, started to open onto me. If they fell out clothes would be all over the floor, wiping out ten days of hard work! I tried pushing them back in, but the second drawer had come all the way out on one side and I couldn't maneuver it back in. I yelped, and the Denizen ran upstairs to my rescue, not without a lovingly sarcastic reference to gravity.
I thought that was unnecessary. The gravity of the situation was obvious.
I saw at least two more bags of trash go downstairs. And more laundry, much of which we are finding no longer fits. We did find the dog, but still no iPod.
